I really like the words to this song that we sing at Church. I like it because it brings out the idea that with my own strength I cannot fulfill God’s Laws nor can I attain His righteousness. But through Christ this is fulfilled in me.

Sung by Randy Swiggum and Margaret Jenks.

To see the Law by Christ fulfilled, To hear His pardoning voice,

Changes a slave into a child

And duty into choice.

1. No strength of nature can suffice

To serve the Lord aright,

And what she has, she misapplies,

For want of clearer light.

2. How long beneath the Law I lay

In bondage and distress.

I toiled the precept to obey,

But toiled without success.

3. Then to abstain from outward sin

Was more than I could do.

Now if I feel its power within,

I feel I hate it too.

4. Then all my servile works were done,

A righteousness to raise.

Now, freely chosen in the Son,

I freely choose His ways.

Love Constraining to Obedience: Words by William Cowper (1731-1800), Music by Kevin Twit ©1998 Kevin Twit Music.

Sung by Margaret Jenks and Randy Swiggum.

His grace is enough for me,

His grace is enough for me,

When all my strength is gone, in His power I carry on,

Because His grace is enough for me.

1.  Grace enough in Thee is found,

Grace to cover all my sin.

Let the healing streams abound.

Make me, keep me, pure within.

2.  Thou, O Christ, are all I need.

More than all in Thee I find.

Raise the fallen, cheer the faint.

Heal the sick, and lead the blind.

3.  When my flesh is calling me,

When my own will screams to be heard,

When temptation burns like fire,

I go running to His word.  It says:

4.  When my will to serve is gone,

When there’s nothing I can do.

When I’m tired and I can’t go on.

He says, “My grace is enough for you.”
